B Cell Immunity Lab at EAACI 2026

Members of the B Cell Immunity Lab recently attended the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) Congress 2026 in Istanbul, Türkiye.

Dr Louisa James was invited to speak in the Joint Member Assembly (JMA) session "IgG: friend or enemy in allergic diseases?", presenting a talk entitled "IgG B-cell antibody class switching and allergic diseases". The presentation discussed recent advances in our understanding of IgG class switching, B-cell fate decisions, and the role of IgG responses in allergic disease.

The meeting also provided an excellent opportunity for members of the lab to share their research. PhD students Ivy Akehurst and Sonay Beyatli both presented posters describing their current work. Ivy presented research examining the impact of inflammation on protective immune responses in the airways, while Sonay presented work investigating the role of autoantibodies in severe asthma and eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA).

EAACI is one of the largest international meetings in allergy and clinical immunology, bringing together researchers and clinicians from around the world. The conference provided valuable opportunities to discuss our work, receive feedback from experts in the field, learn about the latest developments in allergy and immunology research, and establish new collaborations.
